How to Enable iOS 4 or iOS 5 Features on iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G with WhiteD00r

It is possible for you to use iOS 4 features on your iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G if you are still using these old versions of iPhone. The iOS 4 features include tethering, folders and multitasking that are not available with original iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G or even in iPod touch 1 and 2. In order to get these features on your old devices you would have to Jailbreak your iPhone with Whited00r to get the iOS 4 features on your older version of iPhone. How to Enable iOS 4 or iOS 5 Features on iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G with WhiteD00r

  1. Go to the official website of WhiteD00r from where you can select your device on the ‘firmware download’ page.WhiteD00r-Download
  2. Now, you can extract the .zip file before proceeding further.
  3. Connect your device to iTunes. After iTunes detect your device, if you are using MAC OS X hold down ALT key and if you are using Windows hold down SHIFT key. Browse to unzipped .ipsw file on your computer while holding the keys. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes for activation of your iPod or iPhone.Firmware-Restore
  4. Done. Your device is now Jailbroken and you can  now install many iOS 4 features on your iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G including multitasking, custom wall papers, folders and many more.

As your device is now Jailbroken, you can also install many other apps using Cydia. There are some limitations with whiteD00r unfortunately. These limitations include

  • Unable to access Game Centre.
  • Unable to auto name Folders.
  • Video Camera comes with separate app.
  • Unable to save the camera roll unless you apply some post-installations tweaks.
