How To Delete Individual SMS and MMS Messages in iPhone

Users who use texting a lot, might have found themselves in a situation where they wish to delete a few messages from the conversation. In this post, we will detail how this could be done. The explanation can also be used to delete messages from MMS conversations.

The actual task of deleting the messages is actually very simple, though it seems not too obvious. One important aspect of this process is that it prevents you from deleting the entire conversations.

In order to delete a text message:

  1. Go to SMS app.
  2. Open the conversation you want to delete in your messages.
  3. Select “Edit” you’ll see it on the top-right of the screen.
  4. Select the messages you want to delete by selecting them individually or maybe all of them at once, if you want to delete multiple messages.
  5. Lastly, Select “Delete” you’ll see it on the bottom left.

Basically, we’re done here. It is very simple. You can now delete the messages you want to get rid of, and save the conversations you want to appear on your phone.

Additional Tip: If you change your mind, and you want to delete the entire conversation, just go back to the conversation list on the Messages app. Swipe your finger from left to right, and you’ll find a red delete button. Tap the button and the whole conversation will be entirely deleted.
